Draw This In Your Style | Portrait to Illustrations Challenge by 16 Artists

Hi guys! Yes, we know that our blog’s topic sounds more than just one thing which we will be focusing on but it’s because of Mathieu Stern that we had to name it like that. So, Mathieu is a photographer who uses vintage and DIY lenses to capture things and people around him. He also incorporates unusual techniques to create portrait images and not just that, the photographer also makes videos of the processes he goes through while taking photographs and shares them on YouTube.

His videos has helped aspiring photographers to learn new or let’s call them weird techniques to apply to their work. Our blog, however covers something else from Stern’s work – allow us to explain that first. Mathieu says that he was scrolling through Instagram one fine day when he saw that different artists were working on the #DrawThisInYourStyle trend. This challenge was about recreating the work of illustrators and was being accepted among themselves initially.

Stern was also interested to participate in the challenge but since he is a photographer, he contacted an illustrator and asked her if she would want to recreate one of his portraits in her own style. He also told her that the process will be shared on YouTube as well – and after one month, he had 16 illustrations of 16 portraits which were clicked by him. Amazing, right?

The photographer himself felt great to see his work recreated like illustrations. And to help others check out the processes, he uploaded the video on his YouTube channel. To be very honest, this is what we love about artists that they help people all around the globe in learning things virtually. This practice not only enables the people to become better designers / artists and illustrators from the comfort of their homes but is also ‘handy’ and you can retune whenever you feel like doing so.
