35+ Creative Animal Negative Space Illustrations By TYH Tang Yau Hoong

Hi there everybody! We hope that you all are keeping safe and cannot wait to try out or very carefully designed pumpkin carving stencils this year for the Halloween. Since most of us are going to be a little busy with partying and all, we decided to talk about work in this blog of ours by sharing a beautiful and interesting collection of animals (of) negative space illustrations that you can get inspired from and can also create a couple of them for yourself too. So, let us get started!

You would probably know what negative space in design means but we would still like to share a couple of things so that you can better understand the concept of it. Negative space in art or design means the space that between and around the actual subject of the image. Know that negative space only works when there is a primary subject in the image. Another thing that is important to note here is that the negative space has to be either neutral or contrasting in color to work. In some designs, the negative space is also used to give rest to the viewer’s eyes while helping you focus on the primary subject.

Are you now wondering if adding the negative space in your design is necessary or important? If yes, then we would like to tell you all that you are not the only one here. Adding negative space is not only important but what it does is that it allows the breathing space in the design that it needs as without it, the design will look too busy and will be hard on the eyes too. So, if you are still confused about whether to incorporate negative space into your designs or not, we hope that you have found your answer.

Now, let’s about the artist whose negative space illustrations based on animals we are about to share. His name is Tang Yau Hoong, he is a Malaysian graphic designer, artist and illustrator and his goal is to create art that is surreal – based on his conceptual creative thinking and the ability to use his skills and imagination in a way that he keeps surprising the world with his larger than life art and creations. Tang happens to follow a fun and unique way to create whatever he creates but the best part about him is that he shares his art works with the world to see. Like every good creator, Tang works with local and international clients to create their advertising materials, brandings, editorials and more.

And we know that we have said it many times before but we will say it again that we love those artists who don’t hold back when it comes to sharing their tips, tricks and masterpieces with their audiences on ground and online as well. That is how it should be, you know. You can create something, you think someone else would use a little help from your social media platforms or website so you post the process and other details there, and boom! Now there are two people who can create amazing stuff and then it multiplies – for good.

We think now it is time for us to share what TYH / Tang Yau Hoong has created for his amazing collection featuring animals of negative space in the form of illustrations and we think saying we love each one of them would be an understatement. Don’t believe us? Well, you have to take a look yourself to know what we mean. So, from creating a wolf face to adding a sawn nicely to creating a whale that got the shape in a French horn to creating the illustration of the ‘Panda Park’, everything is super unique and has that element that can convince you to say; “Oh, look at that, and that too!” We would also like to share the names of his creations here for a better understanding of the illustrations in case you have to spend a couple of seconds to figure out the presence of the animals:
