So, in easy-to-understand words, the word monochromatic means one color and it also implies that an artwork or a design, etc. which is created by using a monochromatic color palette can only have one color in it. However, we would also like to mention that one color happens to have multiple variations and all the different versions that you see in a monochromatic color palette are the light, dark and more or less saturated variations of the same base color. That sounds interesting. Doesn’t it? Well, there’s more! So, continue reading the blog as we are about to touch base on the color variations down below.

Before diving into the pool of creativity, it is important to know the terms that are used to categorize the color variations and also to understand what they really mean. So, there is a base color or a hue, right? A color that we have a name for such as black, white, red, purple, etc. And then there are these terms; tints, shades and tones. Now, what do they mean and is that even important to know that? The simple answer is yes. And you will get the detailed one in the paragraph that you are about to read.

Okay so, a tint is created by adding white color to the base color or hue in order to achieve a lighter version of it whereas, a shade is created when black color is added to the base color so that the painter / designer can get access to the darker version of the base color. And a tone is created when gray color is added to the base color which results in a muted version of that color which is not too dark and not too light. That said, we would like to mention that if you are someone who happens to utilize the monochromatic color scheme while creating their designs, then we are sure that you would know how it works. But those of you guys who are new to this and can’t really decide how to pick or make just the right kind of monochromatic color palettes, then keep reading the blog as we are about to share a couple of things that you must consider for your next project. Or even if you are in the experimental stage and would like to explore the world of monochromatic color schemes.

When it comes to using monochromatic colors in your designs, you will have to pay full attention to the fact that you go in contrast with the other design elements to ensure that the end results are visually appealing where the important elements stand out in a balanced way. You would also like to create depth in your designs and you can do that by experimenting with different tints and shades, etc. to see what’s working for you. Moreover, you can also incorporate textures or patterns as per the design requirements to enhance the overall look and feel of your designs.

And that is all for today, everyone! If you liked reading the blog, then feel free to let us know about your thoughts and how you plan to utilize the information that we have shared here. In addition to that, we would like to encourage you guys to share the blog with your favorite people at work and at home so that they can also make informed decisions when it comes to monochromatic colors in graphic design.
