Hi there, everyone! How are you all? We hope that everything is awesome at your end and that you are also having a great time reading our blogs and making the most of them too. In our today’s blog, we are not going to be talking about work. In fact, we will talk about the most used devices and how there is a very high chance that they are making us less smart. Do you guys want to know how there can be a possibility that our phones are not helping us anymore? Let’s explore that together, alright?
One simple Google search got us a number that mentions that almost 6.8 billion people around the globe have smartphones. Now, nobody has a phone not to use, right? So, when we have a device, we are going to be using it too. That’s like a given. But the question is how much are we going to use that device? And the answer might be a little too concerning because there are people who can spend hours on their phones without having to move an inch from where they are sitting or lying down. The worst part is that they do not realize that the mindless scrolling can be harmful for them. And not just physically but people can really exhaust themselves in every sense of the word and sadly, they do not care.

Now, there are different ways to understand how our phones are making us less smart. For example; have you noticed this about yourself or someone you know who happens to be on their phone almost all the time that they have a (very) short attention span? Do you want to know why that happens? Well, it is simple, our smartphones are always buzzing with countless notifications in a day – unless we change the settings and make our phone stop alerting us every time someone posts a comment under our status or whatever. Allow us to say the unsaid that too many notifications mean a lot of distraction. Let us understand that through an example!
So, imagine you are sitting at your work desk, trying to concentrate on a task and you hear a *tring tring* and there goes at least 15 minutes of your time because apart from addressing the actual notification, you are going to check out all the other apps that you have on your phone. And when you will get back to work, you would only want to get done and over with the task instead of putting real effort into it. That’s not all because being dependent on our smartphones also results in reduced problem-solving skills as well. Because we know we are going to find an answer on the internet (somehow) so, why is there even a need to think and come up with solutions by using the brain that we have?!
Another drawback of using smartphones or being too dependent on them is that we do not want to memorize anything anymore. Why? Because we know that we can save it on our phone in just a few taps – be it saving a phone number, making a note for a meeting, etc. The whole idea of being dependent on our phones is also making us less social and honestly, we don’t know it yet because we feel that it is okay to exclude human-to-human communication from our day-to-day lives and just use the phones to get things done. We must mention here that we understand that there are people who can be socially awkward but hey, where did that term come from? As we are sure that we did not hear it back in the day when we were not this kind of dependent on our phones, you know!?
And who isn’t suffering from sleep issues these days? We know we are and we also know the reason behind it too. When we keep our minds too active before sleeping by being on the phone, we will have a hard time falling asleep, anyway. Here’s hoping that we can work on keeping a balance on our phone usage to live a happy and healthy life.
That is all for today! If you liked reading the blog, feel free to share your feedback with us in the comments section down below and while you are at it, don’t forget to share the blog with your friends, family members and favorite colleagues as well so that they can learn the interesting facts of why our phones are making us less smart. We would also like you all to take some time and share your special requests with us so that we can start working on them and be back here with your requested content and more.
