Today, in an attempt to share something that is not entirely work-related, we are going to be talking about the questions that are or can be asked in a graphic design interview. So, if you are planning to join the industry or are switching to a new workplace, or if you know someone who has either of the two things in mind, then this blog is definitely for you. Moreover, this blog can also help you if you happen to interview candidates in your company. Make sure that you guys read it till the end as after that, you will be able to make informed decisions.

As you guys know people these days are trying their best to find the perfect jobs with all the perks and then some. And to be honest, there is nothing wrong with that. However, we have seen many people not landing the jobs that they deserve mainly because they cannot perform well during their job interviews. On the other hand, we happen to know quite a few people who do not really know the questions that must be asked during a job interview and this applies to many different sectors and industries.

In addition to that, at times, the HR department is not well versed in what they are doing so they either end up hiring someone who is not the right fit for the company or they unintentionally let go of someone who is. In all these cases, the ones that suffer the most are the applicants. So, let us have a look at the questions that can be included in a graphic design interview. 📋

First things first; the interviewers must ensure that they do not jump to the interview questions as soon as an applicant walks into the room. In fact, they should be made comfortable first. Moreover, they should be given a brief overview of the company, an idea of their job description, etc. Once done, the formal interview should begin with questions like:

1. Introduce yourself as a graphic designer. Now, this can include the design process of the person who is being interviewed and in addition to that, you, as an interviewer can also decide the course of the whole interview as well.

  1. Once you have gotten to know the applicant briefly, you can request them to share their top 3 projects that they think are just the best – and at this point, we are hoping that your applicants have their portfolios with them in hard copies as well so that the tempo of the interview does not break for anyone. Also, while you are at it, you can ask the applicant to share their inspiration to work on a certain project or share their creative journey as well.
  1. Your next question should be regarding handling negative feedback or criticism. We also think this question is something that must be included in all sorts of interviews because this is something that can also help you get to know the person at a personal level. However, do not judge them if they say something that is not up to the mark because we know some people can be defensive when it comes to negative feedback. Give them a chance to learn with you and they will also be able to handle criticism better. We would also like to suggest that the interview must be a combination of professional questions and questions that can help you understand the person sitting in front of you. This approach will help you decide if they are a team player and can be a good fit for your company. Not to forget, you must also ask them how they keep themself updated with the changing trends, how they work on improving their creativity skills, etc.

That is all for today, you guys! We hope that you not only had a great time reading this blog but will also be able to perform well in the next interviews. We would also like you guys to share this blog with your friends, family and favorite colleagues so that they can learn something new that can help them in their respective interviews. Lastly, we wnat you guys to let us know about your special requests and we will be right back with your requested content and more.
