Hi there, everyone! We are back with yet another super useful blog of ours and we are sure that after reading it, you will be able to make informed decisions regarding self-branding as a designer. We want you guys to know that we are very excited to share everything that you need to know to make the most of the blog today but before we do that, we would like to take a tiny moment to thank you for the love & support that you send our way and for also making sure that friends, family members and colleagues are reading our blogs. And we would love to see more of that happening in the future as well.
One of the main reasons why we are sharing this blog with you guys is that we happen to know a lot of people who do not know how to pitch themselves as designers. And that’s not even the worst part. Want to know what it is? Well, the people that we are talking about have worked on numerous projects that turned out to be nothing but amazing but even then, they cannot make a convincing pitch that can get them their dream jobs. After careful consideration, we decided to share a couple of things with you that won’t only help you pitch yourself better but will also be able to get the appreciation that you deserve. So, make sure that you guys read the blog till the very end.
Okay so, first things first; you guys should understand that your pitch as a graphic designer is one of the ways to show off your skills. Let us assume that you are scheduled for an online interview and the first thing that will come your way after the usual hello, hi would be: introduce your work. Now, how do you think you can do that effectively, so much so that you get hired as a permanent employee or just handed a big project to work on?
The very first thing that you guys should be doing is to explain what you do or what your work revolves around using minimum words. Why are we saying that, you ask? Well, you should know that there might be at least 4 other graphic designers who want this specific job or project and you *have* to impress the recruiter or client to stay ahead in the game. So, let’s get back to the part where we mentioned that you should be able to introduce your work using minimal words. Practice stating the most essential things that you do and how they make them *you*.

Next up, you should also be able to answer the purpose of picking graphic design in college and then pursuing it as a career. Remember, you do not have all day to answer what made you do what you did so, practice (and then some more) to say the maximum by using few yet powerful words. Moreover, to stay ahead in the game, you must know what sets you apart from the other graphic designers that are set to participate in the said interview or graphic designers in general. To answer that question, you should analyze all that you have done in the past to jot down the key pointers, such as the niche that you work in, the types of clients you have, and how you initiate the creative thinking process. All the things that you do to begin working on the project would be highly different from the rest of the designers and that is what you need to share with the interviewer(s) so that they know what you do is not just unique but will also help them achieve their business goals in a better way.
This one’s important, and you should be mentally and physically prepared to walk your interviewer through your portfolio – regardless of the interview mode. However, if the interview is being taken place in person, then you must have your portfolio with you either in a hard copy or on a digital device such as iPad or tablet.
That is all for today, you guys! We hope that you not only liked reading the blog but that you will also be able to market yourself better and more effectively in the future. That said, we want you guys to take some time and share this blog with your friends, family and acquaintances who are either looking to join a graphic design company or are planning a switch. Also, while you are at it, feel free to let us know about special requests and we will be right back with your requested content and more. Until then, keep reading and sharing our blogs with your favorite people.
