Okay, so when it comes to typography, there are many techniques that the artists use in order to create typographic designs and then some more. So, it is safe to say that there is no one technique that everyone has to follow so that they can work on their own typographic creations. However, there are a couple of tricks that every artist needs to keep in mind so that they can achieve the best results. Make sure that you guys read the blog till the end to know more and work on typographic designs better than before! 😀
First things first, you need to make sure that you are not overcrowding the canvas with too many fonts. There are multiple reasons why we are saying that. For example, you should never clutter your designs, no matter what you are creating. In addition to that, you must understand why you are creating a certain design, that is, to deliver a message to your target audience, right? By overusing fonts, your message will be lost, and you might not get any leads for your business, too. At the maximum, you should only use 3 fonts for your typography designs. You can keep one font for the main heading, then another for the body text, and then the third or the last one to write the lift-out pull quote. 📜
Next, you would want to work on making your designs highly readable. Now, how can you do that? Well, it is simple; you can optimize the typographic designs through letter spacing, as that plays a crucial role in making the text readable. Again, you are working on your designs for an audience, right? So, you must ensure that whatever it is that you are designing will be easy to read by the very people you are designing it for. In some cases, centered and justified text can be readable. However, we suggest that you focus on keeping the text left-aligned. If you are struggling to understand what we have said at this point, you might want to experiment with formatting, and we are sure that you will get where you wish to be. 😌
Have you worked with contrasting fonts before? We are sure that you must have. However, when it comes to typography, you need to be a little too careful about what you are incorporating into your designs. For example, for typographic designs, you would want to pick one font for the heading, and the main body’s text should be different from that one, and so on. Since we have already mentioned that it is always a good idea to utilize 3 different fonts for your designs, you can experiment with what works for you and then keep refining your designs until your heart says, “There it is. That is what I wanted to make!”. 🤩
Typography is not something that you can create just like that. You must think through your designs over and over again, and then sit down to create them. It is important that you guys take the time that is required to create typographic designs and trust us, you won’t be disappointed. And, of course, for inspiration, you can always refer to Kelly Sikkema’s typography. We are sure your creative juices start flowing in the right direction.
