Design-Field

First things first; you guys should know that there are many different roles in the field of design only but despite being a lot of options, many people struggle to pick just the right one for themselves. Let’s assume that at this point, only three main design fields exist, which are:

  1. UI and UX Design
  2. Visual Design
  3. Product Design

Before we share the verdict, we would like to talk about the overlapping similarities in the mentioned design fields. For example, yes, you have to be creative enough to come up with ideas that haven’t been worked upon in the past, or even if there was, you present your designs in such a way that they stand apart from the crowd. As a designer, you should be familiar with the necessary knowledge and skillset to design a thing or two, even if that does not fall under the field of design that you chose for yourself. Moreover, you should also know how to use the latest tools and incorporate the techniques that can help you create designs that will be liked by your target audiences.

We must share that at some point in your life, you would want to or will be assigned to work on a project or two that do not directly fall in your job description. But since you would have the right kind of knowledge, you would be a great choice to work on a certain project. In short, even if you are not working in a specific field of design, you might have to work on something that mainly consists of that very field. Having said that, let us now have a look at the main design fields and what are the things are expected of you if you are working in those fields.

Starting with the UI and UX Design, it is your responsibility to work on projects while focusing on the demands of the end customer and your designs, products, etc. You would also be asked to explore the customer journey to make informed decisions, designing wireframes, creating brand personas and more. On the other hand, when it comes to Visual Design, the concerned stakeholders are to work on branding styles for their clients, design websites, promotional materials, etc.

Now it’s time to look at the responsibilities of the designers working in the field of Product Design. The people working in this field focus on creating a product that can be anything from a retail market to a jam bottle, as the main objective is to design something that resolves the problem of the end customer. All designers contribute to making the processes easier, more convenient while also helping businesses generate revenues. However, you would like to see what you wish to achieve. For example, if you are highly creative, then Visual Design is for you. On the other hand, if you know that you can focus on the technical aspects of the designs, then UI and UX design is the right field for you. Similarly, if you wish to solve bigger problems through your products, then the field of Product Design is for you.

That is all for today, guys! We hope that you not only liked reading the blog but that you will also share your valuable feedback with us in the comments section down below.
