And we hope to see more of that happening in the future as well.

If you guys are one of our regular readers, then you would know how much we love to talk about and create logo designs. But if you are new here then allow us to first introduce you guys with label designs. Okay so, label designs are considered to be an integral part of the branding and packaging of any business as they serve as visual representations of a product’s identity and its essence. The 90s’ is an era which is filled with bold and vibrant aesthetics that left an indelible mark on design trends including label designs.

In this part of our blog, we will explore a collection of 90’s label designs created by Liu Sheng, a Chinese illustrator and graphic designer who continues to inspire designers through his stunning creations. In order to understand the creative thought process behind Liu’s label designs, you first need to know the design elements that make an effective 90’s label design.

Bold Colors and Geometric Shapes:

As you know that the 90’s were known for the fearless use of bold and vibrant colors. Label designs from that era offered striking color combinations that caught the eye and gave the viewer energetic vibes. Geometric shapes such as triangles, circles and polygons were in fashion as they added a sense of structure to the designs. These designers would combine these elements to create labels that were visually captivating and memorable.

Distressed Effects:

The grunge movement of the 90’s influenced various design disciplines including label design. Labels from this era often incorporated distressed effects such as rough edges, scratched textures and worn-out typography. These elements added a sense of authenticity to the designs.

Retro Typography:

Typography played a significant role in 90’s label designs. Retro-inspired fonts with bold and chunky letterforms were used to create eye-catching labels. The typography choices were often complemented by creative text treatments such as distorted lettering which gave labels a distinct and memorable appearance.

Pop Culture References:

The 90’s were popping with pop culture phenomenon and label designs reflected this influence. Labels often featured references to popular movies, music and TV shows of the era which allowed the brands to connect with consumers on a deeper level.

Playful Illustrations & Characters:

In addition to that, label designs in the 90’s also offered playful aesthetics through the use of illustrations and characters. Cartoonish figures, mascots, and quirky illustrations were common elements that added personality to the label designs. These designs not only gained attention but also created a sense of emotional connection with consumers – making them feel drawn to the brand and eventually buy the products.

The most interesting thing about the label designs of the 90’s is that they continue to inspire the designers in today’s age as well. From bold colors and geometric shapes to grunge effects and retro typography; these designs evoke nostalgia and that’s what Liu has tried to portray through his label design collection and we feel happy to share that he has done a remarkable job. We are sure that when you guys will check out the creations of Liu, you won’t be able to take your eyes away and you know what? That’s what great designs do; they captivate you and you cannot resist looking at them for a very long time.

That is all for today, dear friends!
